Youth Co-chairs

A youth co-chair pretty much administers YAC ("runs" is too strong a verb, but "oversees" is too weak). Co-chairs make agendas for the YAC meetings, run the YAC meetings, oversee all of the events and projects YAC or YAC members execute, sometimes work on projects of their own to be approved by YAC, have Co-Chair meetings between YAC meetings to keep things on track, and basically keep tabs on YAC and even the whole district to make sure things run smoothly. Co-Chairs also assume any roles that are not taken by other YAC members. Co-chair is ideally a two-year position.

Mallory Davies and Kasey Neiss
Energy Committee Coordinators

The Energy Committee Coordinators are youth members of YAC who, supported by adult advisors, monitor the "energy" at conferences and other district events. They enable everyone at the event to have fun and feel included by promoting an open, caring, and safe atmosphere and by encouraging respect among all members of the community. The Energy Committee Coordinators deal with problems should they arise by forming a Conference Rules Committee that then decides on appropriate consequences. The Energy Coordinators trust the community to regulate itself and to report disrespectful and unsafe behavior.

Intentional Community Outreach Coordinators

The intentional community outreach coordinator position was created by Metro NY YAC to address issues of privilege and marginalization within our community. Anti-racist and anti-oppression trainings have taught us that in society at large some identities are subject to unequal treatment. In order to maintain a community that is truly welcoming for all, we work to be aware of and address concerns in our community about racism and oppression.

Newbie Coordinator

Newbie Coordinator is a new job YAC created as a special tribute to the Newbie's of cons. If you do not know what a newbie is, then chances are that you're a newbie. Newbies are people of all ages who are attending a con for the first time. A newbie meeting is held at the beginning of every con where we get to introduce ourselves to our fellow newbies. It is the pleasure of the newbie coordinator to make sure that all newbies feel welcome, comfortable and safe in the strange new environment of a con. Remember, you are only a newbie once, so let us make it is the best experience ever!

YAC Registrar

The YAC registrar is the official coordinator for all YAC registration events. The register maintains an online registration process and custom implements a registration form for each event. This process insures that both youth and their advisors are kept informed of the registration process. The registrar tracks incoming forms and payments and brings the necessary check-in paperwork to the con so that registration runs as smoothly as possible.
